About

Hi, I’m Nicole.

Tutor, accountant, mentor and teacher.

Nicole, founder of Nicole's Academic Coaching & Tutoring

UCLA alum · B.S. Financial Actuarial Mathematics · 12+ years tutoring

Experience

I’ve spent the last 12+ years helping students build confidence in math and discover that they’re capable of far more than they thought. Alongside running Nicole’s Academic Coaching & Tutoring, I also work full-time in entertainment accounting at GHJ Advisors, a leading public accounting firm in Los Angeles, where I earned my  Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) credential. My career in finance keeps my analytical skills sharp, while tutoring continues to be the work that brings me the greatest sense of purpose.

Background

Over the years, I’ve worked with students in nearly every setting imaginable, from after-school homework programs and nonprofit tutoring at EdBoost Learning Center to homeschooling, classroom support as a first-grade teacher’s assistant, and summer camps. I’ve guided students from middle school through college-level mathematics, helping many navigate everything from Algebra to AP Calculus and beyond.

Mentoring

What I love most isn’t just teaching math, but the mentoring. Some of my favorite moments are hearing from former students years later or watching a student who once dreaded school begin believing in themselves. I strive to be more than a tutor. I want to be a trusted mentor who helps students manage academic stress, develop strong study habits, build confidence, and learn how to think independently.

My own math story

Math wasn’t always easy for me, either. It took persistence, long nights, and incredible mentors who challenged me to reach my potential. That experience shaped how I teach today. Every student deserves someone who believes in them, meets them where they are, and helps them discover what they’re capable of.

The team

As my business has grown, so has my team. Today, I work alongside experienced educators, AP teachers, and College Board exam graders who share the same student-centered philosophy. Together, we’re able to support students across math, science, humanities, languages, and more while maintaining the personalized, mentorship-focused approach that inspired me to start this business in the first place.

Outside the office

When I’m not working, you’ll usually find me painting, spending time at the beach, doing Pilates, enjoying nature, or finding any excuse to be around animals. I believe learning is just one part of building a fulfilling life, and I hope every student I work with leaves not only with stronger academic skills, but with greater confidence in themselves.
